ROOM WITH A VIEW
Dave, Carol and myself left Maputo for Inhambane. It was less than 500 clicks but due to the roads being the most damaged of the trip it took close to 7 hours to get there. I think Dave and myself felt a weird guilt leaving Maputo for what was pretty much a vacation destination. We wanted to swim with the whale sharks so we suffered through the beach paradise for a day.
Dude was sleeping at 100km an hour...
The Hut Depot
Almost there
Fernando was one of my favorites. At 11 years old the kid was a briliant hustler and spoke amazing english that he picked up from tourists. The next day he was waiting at our car to give him a ride to school.
The view from my room
We didn't have a waterproof camera so I stole this photo from google. We swam with 5 different sharks the biggest being about 25 feet which is small according to the scientist that was with us. (yes we were with a creepy whale shark scientist, even had the shark tattoo) I don't usually get that impressed with touristy type shit that involves searching for whales but literally being 2 feet away from the biggest thing I have ever seen in the water was amazing.

PACKED FAIRYS
We took the ferry from Maputo into Catembe. Its only 6 clicks from the city but it felt like we were in the middle of nowhere.
I had no idea how many cars you could actually fit on a ferry until i came here...
Sadly aids was not cured by the GAP yet
We drove down this road for an hour and all we found was this
when we decided to go back to Maputo the tide was too low for the ferry so we had wait 2 hours

The view from my hotel the night we got into town
This is Kester on the balcony of my hotel. He came to drop of the chair I bought from him. (see next photo) He is best known for his work that is made out of old weapons from the Mozambique civil war.
Here is the chair that I hope makes it through customs... Not until after I got the chair did it hit me how much blood may be on it.

THE ROAD TO MAPUTO
Picked up Dave
The corolla maxed out
A bus stop somewhere between Jo'burg and the Mozambique border
The hippoless hippo river
Almost to the border
The coyotes that got us past the border without getting raped by the cops. Dave was a little concerned when I gave them our passports and they took off. I bet on them needing cash over 2 white dudes passports... Luckily I was right.

FACE THE FLAG
Tonight I bid my farewell to Upington along with the GK shoot. Its amazing how quickly my time here has passed. Tomorrow I'll fly into Jo'burg pick up Dave and head out on our third world road trip into Mozambique. Originally my plan was to spend the entirety of this trip with the production... 2 weeks of night shoots, the middle of nowhere in northern South Africa, a baboon being the most exotic animal I've seen, its time to see what else Africa has to throw at me. The rough plan is to drive up the coast into Mozambique as far north as time permits then head west into Kruger and back into SA. The Mozambique Flag... Should be interesting.
